The Albert County Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce we have been approved for $70,000 in funding for ACOA’s Rediscover Main Streets Grant.This will enable us to continue to build awareness and growth to our local Albert County Businesses over the next 12 months. Please contact us with your expression of interest as we will soon be working with various suppliers to deliver on key projects aligned with our grant proposal. Member Spotlight: East Coast Kids Child Care and Learning Centres

East Coast Kids is a licensed child care and learning centre for children ages 2-12yrs old. They offer full-time and part-time Day Care, Pre-school/Play-School, Afterschool and Summer programs.

Their indoor and outdoor environments are safe, welcoming and spacious with a variety of learning activities in a friendly atmosphere that respects children’s ongoing interests, capabilities and developmental needs.

Credit card class action allows Canadian businesses to claim rebates of up to $5,000

Businesses in Canada may be eligible to claim hundreds of dollars in credit card processing fees following a multimillion-dollar class action settlement with Visa and Mastercard.

Merchants can now apply for rebates on so-called swipe fees charged on credit card transactions dating back two decades, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) announced.

GNB collecting broadband speed data

The GNB is collecting data regarding broadband internet speed for rural areas in NB.

CIRA runs a free, open-source Internet Performance Test (IPT) project ( that allows anyone with internet access to measure the quality of their connection.

CIRA is looking for New Brunswick-based internet users to generate new provincial IPT data. The data will be very valuable to help broadband funders understand where internet upgrades are most urgently needed in the province.

FROM CONNECTING ALBERT COUNTY: June is ParticipACTION month, and Albert County is getting active! While that’s a great reward all on its own, your active minutes can help our community win a $100,000 prize! Communities all across the country are tracking their activity during the month of June, and the most active will have an opportunity to win the grand prize. ​

There will be activities throughout the month of June, and you can keep track using the calendar on the Albert County Community Better Challenge Facebook page! The ParticipACTION team will share events all month long, and those who attend will be eligible for door prizes. There is nothing we would love more than to see what great things you get up to – snap a picture, tag us and use the hashtag #AlbertCountyMoves!
